Crossing Thresholds to Facilitate Deep Learning: Partnerships in Information Literacy

Faculty are invited to enroll in a Fall 2017 Professional Learning Community on collaborating with librarians to develop students’ research and information literacy skills within the context of a particular discipline using ACRL’s new Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Participants will work with librarians to redesign an existing (or create a new) assignment, lesson plan, or learning experience to reflect best practices in information literacy pedagogy and produce better student research. We encourage instructors from all disciplines to participate. Space is limited to 15 participants. The PLC will run from August 31 to November and future meeting dates will be determined by participants' schedules. Facilitated by Heather Beirne, Ashley Cole, Trenia Napier, and Sarah Richardson.

Throughout Campus
As you travel around campus this fall, be on the lookout for #EKURocks! Hand-painted by #EKULibraries librarians, staff, and students, the rocks will be hidden all over campus. When you find one, be sure to tag us on Instagram (@eku_libraries) or Twitter (@ekulibraries). Then, keep the rock or hide it again for another lucky person to find. Want to join us? Spend a night with EKU Special Collections and Archives and the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity. Develop, write, and polish a creative work inspired by a historical item. EKU Libraries are pleased to announce the first in a new series of community forums, “Speaking From the Margins.” This series will highlight diverse voices and issues across campus in a safe environment. Our first panel, focusing on the successes and challenges of first generation students, will include current students, alumni, staff, and faculty who were the first in their families to attend college and will be moderated by Trenia Napier, Associate Director for Programs and Outreach at the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity. Co-sponsored by the Noel Studio and the Student Success Center.
