Colloquium: Paradoxes of Happiness

Colloquium: Paradoxes of Happiness

Everyone is invited to join us on selected Friday afternoons at 3:30 p.m. in Crabbe Library Room 201 for a hour of informal, moderated conversation over print, video or audio material on various topics selected by EKU faculty. Refreshments will be provided by EKU Student Government Association.

This week, Dr. Greg Engstrom will moderate discussion of Paradoxes of Happiness:

To get happiness forget about it; then, with any luck, it will come as a by-product in pursuing meaningful activities and relationships. This adage is known as the paradox of happiness, but in fact it contains a number of different paradoxes. Without claiming completeness, I distinguish a dozen of them, grouped under the headings of aim, success, freedom, and attitude.
