Celebrate Women on a Mission

Celebrate Women's History Month with a new display from Special Collections and Archives located in the display case outside Main Library room 126.  Women on a Mission tells the stories of Beatrice Huguely, a sassy Madison County native who dove headfirst into the local Civil Rights movement; Anna Kadlec, who worked at the University of Chicago Settlement and closely with Jane Addams of Hull House; Katherine Phelps Caperton, noted for her work with the Equal Rights Association and instrumental in World War I efforts in Madison County; and Anna Lilly, who sponsored the bill that made “My Old Kentucky Home” the state song and whose love and involvement in politics earned her recognition in central Kentucky political and civic affairs.
